WELCOME TO THE ARCHIVE!

The Phantom Blood Archive is a collaborative effort to collect and archive any and all information and material related to the film Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Phantom Blood (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 ファントム ブラッド), released in Japanese theaters on February 17th, 2007. The film has seen no other releases outside of its original theatrical screenings, and has since been considered lost media.

We founded a Discord server on April 16th, 2019, in order to begin researching the film and preserving our findings, whether it be magazine articles, merchandise, potential leads, and much more. This server is over 2,000 members strong, and we strive to expand our reach beyond the JoJo fanbase.

Our primary philosophy has not been - and never will be - to harass those involved with the film in order to get results, but rather to gain insight from not just those involved, but from audiences as well. We've communicated with theaters, companies, and even some of the staff to gain their insights as well as the film's whereabouts, and we intend to keep doing so until we gain official, concrete answers.

OUR MISSION

Our ultimate goal is to get Phantom Blood rereleased and back into the public eye. It had major significance when it premiered, being a celebration of not only the 20th anniversary of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure as a series, but also the 25th anniversary of the career of its author, Hirohiko Araki.

The production studio behind the film, Another Push Pin Planning, shut its doors in 2023. In addition, it's been confirmed by director Junichi Hayama in an interview in Animeland magazine that while a DVD version was being made with assistance from Araki, Shueisha claimed that they would "take care of everything" and "make [it] presentable", seized the film's assets, and have been silent about it ever since. Since this was before Araki's holding company, Lucky Land Communications, was founded in 2015, it can be safely assumed that Shueisha are the ones in direct control over the film as the rightsholders.

As such, we want Shueisha to either come forward about the film's current fate, or release the film to the public once again.
