The 16-Minute Workprint: What Is It?

This week, we're taking a deep dive into the 16-Minute Workprint.

But first, our current leads - unfortunately, I have not heard back from SakuraCon in regards to personally contacting Junichi Hayama, nor have I heard back from any more American anime distributors. I will send more follow ups this week and let you know if I hear anything in next week's blog. Outside of that, I'm beginning to reach out to any international film archives and media preservation companies to see if they could lend me their aid. Surely, if we share a similar mission of preserving media, then we both have something to benefit from finding this film.

REMEMBER: If you wish to help, head over to the Contact tab and reach out - we'd love to hear from you!

As for the workprint, it's an interesting piece of media. Uploaded in 2012 by Erik Zamora, it was intended to be a sound design project for students at the Acadmy of Art University. The music and visuals are the only true remnants of the film in the video - no dialogue is spoken, and the sound effects were added by Zamora.

Uploaded in 2012 by Erik Zamora, it was intended to be a sound design project for students at the Academy of Art University in a class that was taught by Marco D'Ambrosio, the film's composer. In this week's audio blog, we're taking a deeper dive into the history of the workprint, my own personal history with it, and what it contains.

It's amazing that we got the footage. I hope one day you and Erik can have another discussion in the future
